Your Options:
Traditional - Broom Finish
The most common and traditional of finish is the broom finish. A consistent 4" slump is recommended for concrete flatwork with or without color. Broom finishes can be lightly broomed or coarsely depending on the bristles of the broom you choose. This is not a fancy finish but is attractive and provides a non-slip surface.
Classic Vintage – Exposed Aggregate
Today, with new technology and inventive products, exposed aggregate finishing options have emerged to breathe new life into the aged decorative concrete technique. With a variety of modernized mixes and palette of colors, textures and aggregate options to choose from, cost-effective solutions that are more durable than ever and can reveal just how brilliant concrete can be.
Customized – Colour Concrete and Cuts
Adding colour to the mix is a quick, easy and fairly inexpensive way to customize the appearance of concrete. The greatest advantage of coloured concrete versus your other options is the consistency of the colour throughout the thickness of the slab. All concrete eventually chips, pops or scales on the surface especially in the harsh climates with many freeze/thaw cycles. When this happens to concrete that only has colour on the surface, any defects are very apparent because they will be the grey or white colour of regular uncoloured concrete. Concrete that is coloured at the batching plant does a much better job.
